HAMPSHIRE Police and Crime Commissioner Michael Lane has praised the emergency services for their response to the London terror attack on Wednesday.
Mr Lane said: “Wednesday’s attack in London reminds us of the risks we face from those who wish us harm. It also highlights the role of and professionalism of the emergency services in protecting us. I salute them for their preparedness and skill.
“I join with the whole police family in recognising PC Keith Palmer for his actions and steadfastness in the face of an armed attacker. Like so many of us, my thoughts are with his family and friends as they mourn him.
“This attack sadly saw a number of people killed and seriously injured. They, their families, and all those affected by this, are also in my thoughts.
“As Police and Crime Commissioner, I am regularly briefed and seek reassurance that we have the resources and procedures in place to deliver the operational responses the community needs to keep us safe. Like all Constabularies, they prepare, train and rehearse to meet the greatest threats and risks of harm to ensure that through our actions locally, regionally and nationally we keep all our communities safer. As for all major incidents, Hampshire Constabulary will review this incident for lessons to be learned and tuning of their plans.
“In defeating those who wish us harm, partnership across all the security agencies matters. The eyes and ears of the community are key in providing early intelligence. I encourage everyone who has concerns to report them appropriately, either using the 101 telephone number, or 999 in an emergency. I can reassure you that all calls are treated in confidence. We all have a responsibility to contribute to our safety.”
