MYSTERY surrounds a wartime officer’s revolver found by contractors dredging Petersfield Heath Pond.
It was spotted by chance on top of silt being dug out of the pond, and the rusty firearm is now being examined by police.
But Petersfield Town Council is hoping it will be returned so it can be put on display, and is appealing for anyone who may know the gun’s history to contact the council on 01730 264182.
