FIREFIGHTERS from across the county, including a Petersfield crew, were called to a barn fully alight in Ropley near Alresford just before 4pm on August 2.

The barn, which was near several domestic properties, contained a forklift vehicle and 1500 bales of hay.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service worked with the electricity company to isolate the power from nearby cables, Southern Water and the Environment Agency.

Relief crews from Droxford, Alresford, Basingstoke, St Mary’s in Southampton and Cosham in Portsmouth were required to replace the initial firefighters on the scene from Alton, Winchester and Petersfield during the evening.
