HAMPSHIRE Constabulary had to deal with a road traffic collision on the A3 near Bramshott on Sunday evening.

The incident led to long delays on the A3 near the Hindhead tunnel on Sunday evening.

Drivers were advised by police officers to use alternative routes and avoid the area if possible.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: “We were called at 7.12pm on Sunday, February 7, to reports of a road traffic collision on the northbound carriageway of the A3, just before the Hindhead tunnel.

“It appears some electricity cables had fallen to the ground, hitting several vehicles and blocking the road.

“Five cars were involved – a BMW, a Skoda Fabia, Skoda Octavia, a Seat Altea and a VW van.

“No injuries were reported.

“SSE were called to deal with the cables.

“The road was fully clear at 9.56pm on Sunday evening.”
