HAMPSHIRE police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal accident on the A272 near West Meon this afternoon.

Officers were called at 1.26pm today (Sunday, January 14) to the A272, near the road’s junction with Stocks Lane, following a report of a single vehicle collision involving a green Kawasaki motorcycle.

The rider, a 40-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next-of-kin have been notified.

No other injuries have been reported and officers do not believe any other vehicles were involved at this time.

Police have started an investigation into the circumstances of the collision and officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened, or anyone who thinks they saw the motorbike prior to the collision.

Part of the A272 was closed after the incident and diversions were put in place while investigation work was carried out at the scene.
