A serious accident has blocked a road in Petersfield town centre this afternoon.

The incident happened at around 2pm at the pelican crossing in Dragon Street. A large lorry was involved in the incident and at least one pedestrian has been injured.

Police have sealed off the area and asked shop workers to stay away from windows which look over the street.

There are reports an air ambulance has been called to the scene and ambulance crews are also in attendance.

Traffic is being diverted by Police officers around the closed road.
