THIEVES raided a bank in Liphook during the early hours of Saturday morning and left a large hole in the wall of the building.

The burglary took place at around 4.45am this morning at the branch of Lloyds Bank in The Square.

Hampshire Police say the thieves used a forklift truck to smash the wall of the building to remove and steal a cash machine.

The forklift was left at the scene and firefighters from Liphook were called in to inspect the structure of the building following the damage caused during the raid.

The police are asking any witnesses to the raid or anyone who has any information to contact them on 101.
