Over at the New Savoy Cinema at Petersfield’s Festival Hall, the epic Everest is the New Year opener on Tuesday, January 26, at 2pm for 2.30pm.
It tells the tale of how on the morning of May 10, 1996, climbers from two commercial expeditions started their final ascent towards the summit of Mount Everest, the highest point on earth. A violent storm took them by surprise, engulfing the adventurers in one of the fiercest blizzards ever encountered by man.
Suffragette is also being shown at the New Savoy Cinema that evening at 7pm for 7.30pm.
In February, films to look forward to are Pan, Amy and The Martian, on Tuesday, February 16, at 10.30am for 11am, 2pm for 2.30pm and 7pm for 7.30pm, respectively.
Sunset Song, an evocative offering by Terence Davies, adapted by the Scottish classic, and Lady in A Van are on on March 22.
In April The Dressmaker is being shown, along with Brooklyn. Tickets are £5 and can be bought at One Tree Books, Petersfield, or from Petersfield Town Council, Heath Road.
