Hartley Park Farms gave families an Easter to remember with a fantastic family day out down at the Lavender Fields and Business Park’s Charity Fun Day.

The farm and business units opened their doors to more than 1,000 parents and children braving the chilly weather to try their hands at all the Easter fundraising activities. These ranged from egg painting, guess the weight of the piglet and name the lamb, to guess the number of sweets and a treasure hunt.

The visit of a Petting Farm went down well as a highly popular new attraction.

The main competition was name and find the Easter bunny with three top prizes. Winner of the first prize of £50 plus a large teddy bear were mother and daughter Rachel and Jessica Foard of Alton; second prize of £20 went to Sienna Parsons of Salisbury and third prize of £10 to Amelia Paye of Liphook.

The event raised £676, which has been split equally between two charities - The Rosemary Foundation, providing hospice at home services in Petersfield, and CRY, for Cardiac Risk in the Young.

“This is an annual event for Hartley Business Park and the Lavender Fields and it’s our way of giving a little bit back to the community,” said Simon Butler, manager of the business park.

“All the businesses here support the day and this year our key business supporters were The Lavender Fields Gift Shop, Healey & James Oriental Textiles, The Christmas Decorators, Party Cakes, Floral Image, Charlton Construction Ltd and Barn-Store. But we also have to thank a team of enthusiastic and capable youngsters, who help make the day the success it is.”

Although better weather would have added the icing on the cake, the children seemed quite oblivious to the cold and thoroughly enjoyed racing around the site and trying out all the competitions.
