AN UNDERWEIGHT dog that was found wandering in Lovedean before Christmas may have been forced to lie in wet concrete by its abusive owners.

The Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is appealing for information after rescuing the black lurcher from a patch of woodland on December 15.

Inspectors have been unable to trace its owners as the dog – nicknamed “Bones” by its rescuers – is not microchipped and was not wearing a collar.

The mutt, which has several sores, is now being cared for at the charity’s Stubbington Ark base.

“When he was found he was very underweight with a nasty scar on his muzzle and a few others around his body,” said Adam Staden, RSPCA Inspector.

“He also has a number of sores that we think have been caused by being made to sit and lie down on a wet concrete floor.

“It’s sad to see a dog in his condition and sad to think someone has just abandoned him.”

Anyone with information about Bones can leave information anonymously through the RSPCA’s appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
