ONE OF Petersfield’s accomplished amateur dramatic groups, Lion and Unicorn Players, is to receive a prestigious award for its touring production last year, Boudicca of Verulamium.

The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA), which has been supporting amateur performers for more than 100 years, has awarded a prestigious Accolade of Excellence to the cast and crew of the drama based on the life of Britain’s rebel queen.

Director Kat Wootton will be travelling to Kent next month to NODA’s south east region annual meeting to collect the award for the group.

Lion and Unicorn have two productions planned for later in the year but this weekend there are still a few matinee tickets left for 2016 and All That, a new comedy written by Ben Gander, being performed at Sheet Village Hall. Tickets, priced £8, for the performance at 2.30pm are available at One Tree Books in Lavant Street, Petersfield, and online at: www.lionand unicornplayers.co.uk

Ben’s theme is the coming together of four generations to celebrate great grandma Ethel’s 90th birthday a few days after the Brexit vote which means arguing, misunderstandings, farce and mayhem.

The group will stage hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors at Petersfield’s Festival Hall on May 10, 11 and 12, then The Master Builder in October.
