A committee has served up some good news to tennis players as four courts in Petersfield are set for a £55k refurbishment.

Petersfield Town Council has agreed to give The Avenue tennis courts a makeover as the LTA has suspended coaching at the facility because of its poor condition.

Tenders for re-lining and coloured resurfacing were invited in late December with 11 being received by the council.

The town clerk, mayor, projects manager and two councillors met on February 3 to score the tenders, with one of £55,291 by a contractor who offered a 36-month warranty being recommended.

The recommendation was approved by members of the PTC Sports, Recreation and Environment Committee when they met on Thursday, February 12.
