Work is now underway on a new housing development in Petersfield that will deliver 85 homes, with nearly half of them affordable, alongside new green spaces and walking routes.
Buckmore Green, being built by developer Dandara, is located close to the town centre and bordered by the South Downs National Park. The scheme will include a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses designed to be energy-efficient and built to high environmental standards. Each home will feature modern layouts suited to family life, with flexibility for homeworking and sustainable living.

In total, 39 of the homes will be designated as affordable, representing 45 per cent of the development. The plans also include improvements to an existing public right of way and the planting of more than 100 trees and native hedgerows across the site. Landscaped open spaces will connect residents to nearby footpaths and the National Park, with Dandara focusing on biodiversity and community access with the development.
Ben Fewsdale, Managing Director at Dandara Southern, said: “Breaking ground at Buckmore Green is a proud moment for the team. It’s a site that reflects everything we believe in as a housebuilder – great design, a genuine connection to the local environment and homes that will stand the test of time.
“It is a development that really captures what people love about Petersfield – the balance between rural calm and everyday convenience. You’ve got fields and footpaths in one direction and cafés, schools and the station in the other. From the outset, our focus has been on designing a place that feels naturally part of its setting, somewhere that blends into the landscape rather than sitting apart from it.”
Homes at Buckmore Green are expected to launch in 2026.
