A TRIP to Uganda was a real eye-opener for Petersfield pupil Henry Green who has a passion for photography.
With his trusty canon he captured the wildlife and street life of the country during two weeks spent there with the Queen Elizabeth Country Park’s (QECP) twinning project.
Now 27 of his photos are being displayed at his school in the Studio@TPS.
The exhibition – Uganda the Country – can be viewed on Wednesday, February 15, from 7pm to 9pm, and on Saturday, February 18, from 10am to 3pm.
QECP is linked with the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda, with Liss Junior School, where 14-year-old Henry used to attend, very involved in the project.
A teacher from the school was on the trip, along with Henry’s mum Heather who has been to the African country several times.
“It was quite a culture shock,” said Henry. “There was absolute mayhem on the streets of Kampala.”
He was very inspired though and got to snap animals including elephants and lions up close on safari, as well as taking portraits of interesting people.
“There was one guy who looked really miserable but put his thumbs up when he saw me and I managed to get that,” said Henry, who is taking GCSE photography.
