FANS of the humble potato can enjoy an afternoon dedicated to the versatile vegetable on January 16.

Petersfield’s Grow Your Own Potato Day and Seed Fair 2020 will be held at Herne Farm Community Centre at Herne Farm in Petersfield from 2pm until 5pm.

More than 60 varieties of seed potato, all for sale by the single tuber, will be available alongside onion and shallot sets, planting garlic bulbs and a comprehensive range of heritage seeds.

There will also be a selection of fruit trees, soft fruit and kitchen garden plants.

Admission costs £1, which will go towards the upkeep of the Adhurst Estate Allotments in Waterworks Lane, Sheet.

Spud lovers are advised to take some carrier bags to the event in order to take home their purchases.

The event is being sponsored by Pennard Plants, which includes seed potatoes among the many plants it offers.
