PEOPLE who buy a raffle ticket in support of an inspirational couple from Catherington could start the New Year dining with a pair of celebrities.

Fans of Gogglebox are in for a treat as afternoon tea with Stephen Webb and Chris Steed will be the top prize in a raffle organised by relatives of Lisa and Ashley Tong.

The raffle will be the highlight of a Christmas Fayre that will take place in Catherington next Saturday (Dec 3) in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.

The Tongs have devoted their lives to charity since their three-year-old daughter, Amelia May, died following a seizure in April 2014.

Lisa was diagnosed with MND Disease just six weeks later with her deteriorating state later resulting in a move to Petersfield and an appeal for a bespoke bed.

But they continued to raise funds for Epilepsy Research UK and the MND Association and passed £20,000 mark last summer with a fayre in Horndean Technology College.

The couple held two Christmas fayres so Lisa’s mum and sister, Shirley Kitcher and Zara Qema, have upheld tradition by organising another on their behalf.

“They’ve put a lot of time and effort into it,” said Mr Tong. “They’ve had a lot of help from friends and family because this year they’re going it for the MND Association as a nod to Lisa.”

The biggest draw will be the raffle with the Gogglebox prize being secured by Lisa’s former boss, Jennifer Edwards, who runs Waterlooville salon, Jenuine Styles.

“It’s a pretty amazing raffle prize,” added Mr Tong. “The two guys on Gogglebox share the same rep as her so Jennifer got in touch and they are happy to do it.”

The Christmas Fayre will take place between 10.30am and 2pm while tickets for the raffle, which will be drawn at 1pm, are £20 with all proceeds going to the MND Association.

Needless to say a variety of additional great prizes will also be on offer while a date in January or February will be expected to suit the winners of the Gogglebox prize.

Tickets can be purchased on the day or through Jenuine Styles, Hambledon Parade, on 023 9225 9977.
