IT WAS tough going but it was worth the 12 hours of slog for Rogate fundraiser Alan Greenfield.
The 45-year-old, who completed the Three Peaks Challenge, has collected all his sponsorship money and he raised £1,630 for Macmillan.
British Airways flight attendant Alan walked 26 miles in the Yorkshire Dales, climbing Pen y Ghent at 694 metres, Whernside at 736 metres and Ingleborough, 723 metres high.
It was in memory of his mother who had walked Ingleborough with his dad many years ago but had never got round to tackling the other two.
“I have supported Macmillan Cancer since losing my mum, Janet, to cancer six year ago.
“The doctors and nurses were fantastic not only with the care of my mum, enabling her to stay at home until her passing, but also a great support to me and friends who looked after her,” he said.
He was on the walk with his dog, Alfie, and 250 other supporters of Macmillan.
“The challenge itself was not only physical but mentally challenging.
“Thankfully it was perfect weather for hiking and, after 12 hours walking, there were no blisters.
“I am proud of my achievement and thank everyone who kindly supported me. I feel very strongly Macmillan need every penny we can raise.”
