ALISHA Jenkins is not like your ordinary eight-year-old.

The little girl is a big lover of the stage and has become a regular in the pantomimes produced by The Winton Players.

But not only that, she now gets involved in organising the raffle with her mother, in a bid to keep the group going.

It’s one of many things she does to support local charities and to do her bit to help others. Her mother Karen Jenkins (42) said: “She’s been involved for the past three or four years. She went to see the pantomime one year when she was about four.

“And she just said to me ‘mummy, I want to do that’. Ever since then, she’s been 100 per cent dedicated to them. It means everything to her. She lives for the panto. After it finishes, she gets the panto blues because they are on such a high and so busy all the time.

“But she picks herself back up again. She thrives to be on the stage. This year there are four different parts that she’s playing so it gets quite hectic backstage.”

But it’s not only starring on the stage that keeps Alisha motivated. She also helps her mum when it comes to finding raffle prizes.

She enjoys walking around Petersfield and asking for donations to enable The Winton Players to keep going. Any funds raised go towards the hire of the hall, costumes and lighting, among other things needed to keep the group going.

“The more the community can step in and help, that would be much appreciated,” Karen added. “Alisha loves to raise money for local charities. She did the sponsored walk for Marlowe and persuaded her school and asked them to do something for the hurricane appeal.

“She just loves to help people. She gets enjoyment out of seeing people getting better and she loves giving more than receiving.”

The Winton Players will perform Dick Whittington at the Petersfield Festival Hall from January 12-20.
