BEAUTIFUL?butterflies have descended on a Liphook in Bloom tended garden courtesy of the Peak Day Centre.

Clients at the centre created the colourful butterflies during art and craft sessions, and they were very gratefully received for the garden at the sorting office in Portsmouth Road.

Liphook in Bloom chairman Irene Ellis said:?“It is lovely to include the different aspects of the community in our gardening plans.

“The butterflies are very appropriate to the style of planting in this particular garden.

“They are highly visible and make a lovely display as they sway happily to and fro in the breeze.”

Watering has become a big task for the In Bloom team, with the weather being so hot over the last few weeks.

So far this year they have used 1,800 litres of recycled water on their gardens and plants.

Much of this is collected from a roof-top rain water storage system with additional support from The Foley Manor Estate.

The reservoirs in the hanging baskets and containers around the village are filled by two-person teams twice a week.

Enthusiastic members are always out and about in their yellow fluorescent jackets planting, weeding and carrying out maintenance and other projects.

This year has seen an additional wildflower garden created around the village green to extend the area of the previous two gardens formed last year, and a shrub planted garden on the perimeter of the green.

New volunteers are always welcome to Liphook in Bloom, especially for monthly weeding and maintenance, and for taking out bulbs and replanting for the new season. Visit www.liphookinbloom.co.uk
