EAST Hampshire MP Damian Hinds set out his position for remaining in the EU to Alton College students during a question and answer session with students there.
Mr Hinds said in his opinion the UK was better off in the EU as “we can achieve more in the EU than we can alone.” He also answered questions about the environment, crime, terrorism and the economic benefit of trade without barriers and tariffs the UK currently enjoys.
Students questions covered immigration, jobs, trade and industry, workers’ rights, the housing market, education, travel and free movement in the EU.
Meg Crawford, previously at The Petersfield School, said that many voters didn’t know the benefits of staying in the EU.
Mr Hinds said: “You have more to lose not showing interest in this than your parents or grandparents. Those who aren’t old enough to vote, can still impact the outcome by speaking to parents and grandparents, and urging them to vote.”
