FROM the autumn the Petersfield and Bordon emergency response police teams will be moving to Hatch House in the centre of Alton.

Also moving to the Hampshire County Council building in Mill Lane will be the neighborhood police teams.

The station and front counter services will remain open at the police station until next spring, when Alton police station will be sold.

Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner Michael Lane said: “Building effective partnerships has always been one of my priorities for the role of Commissioner, and our service must respond to changing demands. "The move later this year keeps the police in the centre of Alton, where they will continue to keep residents safer.”

Today, the vast majority of residents contacting the police do so by telephone, or online, or by other methods.

As a result, use of front counter services has declined considerably. As always, if any resident is unable to travel to use a front counter service, alternative arrangements can be made.
