PETERSFIELD amateur theatre group The Lion and the Unicorn are selling off their extensive costume collection for as little as £1 an item.

Until now the popular theatre group has stored its costumes in a container at Droxford, but that is expensive, so it is all being sold.

Lion and Unicorn Wardrobe manager Di Wallsgrove said: “There’s 50 years’ worth of costumes from Victorian, restoration and Tudor to bible robes, top hats, 20th century stuff and all kinds of accessories.

“So anyone looking for fancy dress or vintage clothing for events such as Goodwood Revival may well be interested – everything is going to be incredibly cheap, about £1 per item.”

The sale will also help pay for the group’s next production, One Man Two Guvnors, which has an elaborate set, loads of props, and even a cooked meal in each performance.

The free-entry sale is open to everyone, and is on Saturday, March 10, from noon till 2.30pm in St Peter’s Church Hall in St Peter’s Road, Petersfield.

Drama groups keen to have a preview of the costumes are asked to contact the Lion and Unicorn via the website www.lionandunicornplayers.co.uk
