YOUNG people across Hampshire are invited to a apprenticeship, training and careers event.

Organised by Hampshire County Council, around 20 exhibitors, such as Hampshire Constabulary and highways contractor Amey, will highlight the wide range of apprenticeships and training opportunities on offer for school and college leavers.

The council will also be showcasing it’s opportunities for young people, and information and advice will be available for those interested more generally in a career in the public sector.

Councillor Peter Edgar said: “The council is delighted to be able to showcase the variety of apprenticeships and training it has to offer young people.

“It is important to remember that every young person is an individual and they should be given the opportunity to choose the route to their future career that suits them.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to learn more about what the council can offer them in the way of training and employment. I hope that many young people, from all over the county, will make the most of what this event has to offer.”

There are currently more than 100 apprentices working at Hampshire County Council in a range of areas, including catering, countryside and engineering, with the number of apprentices steadily rising.

Council representatives will be available on the night to answer any questions about the vacancies currently on offer.

The Showcasing Your Future event will be held on Wednesday, November 2, from 3pm to 7pm, at Ashburton Hall, Elizabeth II Court, Sussex Street, Winchester, SO23 8UJ.
