ANIMALS are at the centre of poet, performer and campaigner Susan Richardson’s work which she will share with Petersfield’s Write Angle supporters.

Known as the Arctic Angel, this will be her fourth visit to the venue where organiser Leah Cohen says they are thrilled to have her back.

Richardson has performed from Hay to Adelaide, spent four years as poet/performer on Radio 4’s Saturday Live, and on BBC2 television covering the Chelsea Flower Show. She’s poet-in-residence both with the global animal welfare initiative World Animal Day and the British Animal Studies Network, facilitated by the University of Strathclyde.

With the publication of her poetry collections, Where the Air is Rarefied and Creatures of the Intertidal Zone, inspired by her northern journeys, environmental issues and the wildlife of the region, Susan’s childhood vision of travelling round the world to write about animals was finally fulfilled. Her travels have taken her to the Arctic, Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland in the footsteps of an 11th century female Viking.

Write Angle’s gathering at The Townhouse, High Street, Petersfield, from 7.30pm tonight (Tuesday), will include an open mic session. Entry is £6.
