THE 101st anniversary of Armistice Day was commemorated at Petersfield War Memorial on November 11.

Leading the ceremony was Petersfield vicar Rev Will Hughes and retired Royal Navy Commander Clive Lewis, chairman of Petersfield Royal British Legion.

Armistice Day is marked at 11am on November 11, the moment the First World War ended in 1918.

Remembrance Sunday – the second Sunday in November – was created in 1946 to remember those who died in both world wars.

It now also remembers those killed in conflict since then.
