EYEPATCHES and parrots on shoulders were the order of the day as Talk Like a Pirate Day came to Petersfield today.
There was much ‘arrrhhh-ing’ and shivering of the timbers as the Pompey Pluckers ukulele band, dressed as pirates, played sea shanties around town.
Stopping off at Winton House, The Square Brewery, Waitrose, Marks and Spencer and Four Handles restaurant, they were raising awareness and funds for the town’s Artscape charity.
Artscape director Mandie Letchford, one of the Pluckers, then ‘walked the plank’ on the jetty at Petersfield Pond.
The fun and frolics coincided with international Talk Like a Pirate day.
Mandie said: “We are starting out at Winton House because it has been Artscape’s home for the last 11 years, and they have really embraced the event.”
