ADVENTURES in the Ukraine and the breakaway states of the Caucasus is the theme of a talk being given by intrepid journalist John Pilkington.
John will be returning to The Studio@TPS, at The Petersfield School, on June 8, at 7pm, to give fascinating insights after meeting people on both sides of these disputed borders.
In 1983, after journeys in Africa and Latin America, he completed a 500-mile solo crossing of the western Nepal Himalaya and told the story in his first book Into Thin Air.
After the break-up of the Soviet Union, he became one of the first Western journalists to report from the new central Asian republic. He has spoken to more than 1,000 audiences in five countries and holds the Royal Geographical Society Ness Award for popularising geography and promoting a wider understanding of the world.
John has enjoyed sell-out events at The Studio@TPS. Tickets are £8, with £6 for concessions, and are available from www.thelittleboxoffice.com or from One Tree Books in Petersfield.
