ONE OF Alan Ayckbourn’s classic comedies is being staged by students at the Alton College Theatre Company.

Bedroom Farce is at the Wessex Theatre at the college from December 13 to 15.

The play takes place over the course of one night in three bedrooms.

Four married couples struggle with confusion and each other as things go steadily and hilariously out of control.

For starters, Trevor, played by Ben Anderson, and Susannah (Holly Cove) ruin a house-warming party being given by Malcolm (Ben Hannond) and Kate, played by Issy Terry.

Nick (Joe Cosgrove) suspects his wife Jan, played by Rosie Wallace, has something going on with Trevor.

They all bounce about among the bedrooms, crashing into the middle-age domesticity of Delia (Honor Ramsdale) and Ernest (Chris Atkinson), Trevor’s parents, whose big treat, following a disastrous wedding anniversary, is to share a tin of sardines before going to sleep, even though it leaves a fishy smell on the sheets.

“Bedroom Farce is a terrific play for Christmas,” says director Kevin Davey.

“Confusion and mayhem create plenty of laughs. It’s a seasonal treat.”

Tickets are £5.50, with £4 concessions.
