A BENCH overlooking her favourite view has been unveiled in honour of a Rogate parish councillor of 47 years.
The bench for Pauline Berrisford-Hill, of Rake, commemorating her time on the council has been placed at Olivers Piece beauty spot, overlooking Milland vale and the wooded hills north of Rogate.
Current councillors and friends turned out for the unveiling ceremony at which Pauline cut the ribbon on her bench.
Current parish council deputy chairman Elizabeth Brown said: “She retired in May and was very active on the council in many different ways.
“She was involved in looking after the council’s open spaces, and this was her favourite spot.
“This bench is in gratittude for her 47 years of dedicated service on the council.”
Pauline was also the council representative for Rake Church of England Primary School.
Council chairman Steve Williamson said: “Pauline has been marvellous, helpful with advice and support and a mine of local information.”
To make sure Pauline can enjoy the view to its best advantage, trees and gorse bushes were trimmed before the unveiling.
