THE LUCKY local bands to play on the Butserfest stage at the Victorious festival have been announced.

Winners of the online competition, run by East Hampshire District Council, will play at the festival in Portsmouth this weekend.

To take part in the competition, 50 per cent of the act must live in the East Hampshire district.

Winners included Waking Angel, Climb the Attic, Brink Theory and Callum Gardner, all from Alton. Also performing are Bordon acts Fair Weather, The Bayonettes and Joe Booley.

Butserfest was launched by the council 10 years ago to give local rock and alternative bands the opportunity to showcase themselves. This year, it will feature at Victorious, which has a capacity of more than 100,000 people.

Councillor Ferris Cowper, deputy leader of the council and founder of Butserfest, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local talent to perform on the big stage on the same bill as some of the best acts in the world.

“EHDC is delighted that we can give the support and the opportunity to showcase the most talented acts from our district at a major festival and give them the chance to live their dream.”
