THE ANNUAL Save The Children three-day Big Sale in Petersfield Festival Hall has raised an “amazing” £25,000 for children in the UK and abroad.

Chairman Prue Rushmer said: “It’s an amazing amount, and that’s not the final figure yet, as we haven’t finished adding up the total.

“We worried hot weather would see everyone go to the beach, but this has been one of the best sales yet.”

The sale ran was opened by Petersfield Mayor Jamie Matthews.

He said: “It was fantastic to open it, and Petersfield Save The Children is one of the best fundraisers for the charity in the UK, something the town should be very proud of.”

The sale was also attended by East Hampshire MP Damian Hinds, who said: “It is a brilliant Petersfield institution run by volunteers, who should all be very proud of what they achieve for children.”
