THE Bishop of Winchester has called on Christians from churches across Hampshire to plant more trees.

This commitment is part of his campaign to do more to care for the planet during Lent, the six weeks between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday.

The Right Rev Tim Dakin wants people to plant a variety of trees to contribute to carbon retention and further the Church of England’s ambition to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

Bishop Tim said: “By planting trees, we are contributing to a better and healthier world, and I hope many people will join me in working for real change for our environment.”
