Guests were greeted with a glass of wine on arrival and given a ticket for the champagne raffle.
Soon guests were mingling, perusing the informative display, watching video clips of ‘The Bloomers’ in action and enjoying the games out in the garden area.
Short speeches were given by current Liphook in Bloom chairman Philip Jordan and past chairman Irene Ellis, who both welcomed guests and thanked all the sponsors and friends for their support over the years.
The raffle was drawn and the champagne won by Jan Roles.
Jan and her husband Tony have been committed members of Liphook in Bloom almost from the outset.
President Terry Burns then gave his speech. It was Terry with three friends – Paul Johnson, Andy House and Adrian Bird – who founded Liphook in Bloom in 1997 when the village was looking somewhat dreary after the A3 bypass development was finished.
Terry gave a brief outline of achievements over the years and said he was so pleased that there were new members to continue the good work.
A delicious barbecue was prepared and served by Dave McCoy, and family and guests sat at tables with stunning floral decorations made by Wendy Evans.
The desserts were provided by Liphook in Bloom members, promptly followed by the ‘birthday cake’ made and decorated by Barbara Frost.
Then suitably refreshed, guests sat back and enjoyed the musical entertainment provided by Peter, Paul and Mary’s Brother.
