The couple behind a much-loved Bordon pet shop are turning fundraisers in a charity event that’s been a decade in the making.
In a constituency with a proliferation of duck races and fetes, according to its MP, you may think that holding a dog show could be fairly straightforward.
But it’s been anything but for Kaz and Rocky as the pair have overcome more twists and turns than a competition at Crufts in holding the inaugural Crowder’s Pets Charity Dog Show.
For the start, there’s been issues with water supply that forced the couple to ditch the aquatic side of their Chalet Hill business. More about that soon.
Operations, Covid and now roadworks, which have hit passing trade and will soon be right outside their front door, have also provided obstacles.
But the determined duo are still behind the counter – and now they want to give something back with a dog show in aid of the Portsmouth Greyhound Trust on Saturday, June 7.
They’re hoping their event from 11am to 4pm at Hogmoor Distillery will get tails wagging, with plenty of fun promised for two and four-legged visitors.
Kaz said: “We currently have more than 20 stalls and we’ve got a few favourites, like Dylans Ice Cream.
“We’ve been very selective over who we want because we want to support local businesses. All the funds will go to the PGT as we’ve been supporting them for about five years and they’re a local rescue charity over in Rake.
“It’s our first dog show. I’m quite nervous and I just hope everything goes well because it’s quite a big thing for us.”
The Crowder’s team are also taking part in the annual pet day at The Shed this Saturday. For more details about the dog show look for Crowder’s Pets on Facebook.
