THIS year’s Bramshott Open Gardens was a huge success, say organisers.

The biennial two-day event was officially opened by chef Antonio Carluccio and attracted 850 visitors, who helped raise more than £14,100 for good causes, including Macmillan Cancer Care and the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal.

A shuttle bus ran around the village, to enable gardens along the lanes to be visited, and there was a barbecue.

Other houses in the village offered refreshments, and inside St Mary’s Church there was a flower festival.

Bramshott Open Gardens committee member Angela Glass said: “We had more than 20 gardens open and there were some very good afternoon teas.

“A lot of people who came on the Saturday returned on the Sunday and it was an excellent weekend.

“The feedback we have had from visitors is that they enjoyed the whole event.”
