JOIN beloved broadcaster Clare Balding for an afternoon of family entertainment to mark the publication of her first children’s book.

She will share stories from her own childhood surrounded by animals, give a reading from The Racehorse Who Wouldn’t Gallop, and offer expert advice at Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre on Saturday, at 3pm.

Her book introduces Charlie Bass, a horse-mad ten-year-old who dreams of owning a pony.

She accidentally manages to buy a racecourse, and is thrilled. Noble Warrior looks the part – he’s strong, fit and healthy. But there’s a problem: he won’t gallop. In fact he won’t even leave his stable without his best friend, a naughty palomino pony called Percy.

The event will end with an audience Q&A and a book signing from Clare, who became the face of the BBC’s horse-racing coverage in 1998.

The event is most suitable for children aged seven years plus. There will be funfair-style foyer entertainment for all the family.
