HEALTH and education in families and schools in deprived rural Ghana has been given a huge boost this year by the generosity of a Buriton-based charity.
The Village-to-Village charity, with money raised in and around Buriton, has already sent funding for 71 family toilets, with money for another 70 ready to go.
“It is great that so many families are queuing eagerly to get this basic household facility, now that they see from others how it can improve the health of children and others,” said a spokesman for the Village-to-Village group.
The group is also applying for a number of grants so that more blocks of school toilets can be provided in the tropical Dominase area of the country, helping to boost attendances at school as well as enhancing health and hygiene.
Money is also being sent for continued teacher training.
