A PIONEERING project to build sports facilities for one of the UK’s first ‘green’ towns is being developed by a leading regional construction company.
The £1bn multi-partner regeneration project will see 3,350 homes and a range of facilities built on the former Prince Philip Barracks over the next 15 years.
The site, transforming the garrison town into a ‘green’ town, will be one of four such towns in the UK with an emphasis on sustainability. The replacement building will provide a larger sports pavilion, improved tennis courts, boules courts and a bowling green, alongside re-seeded sports pitches as well as a series of community spaces for functions of varying sizes.
