PETERSFIELD Town Mayor Cllr Lesley Farrow cut the ribbon to reopen the redecorated Costa Coffee shop in Rams Walk on October 23.

The Heath ward member was accompanied at the ceremony by Cllr John Crissey.

An archway of maroon Costa-branded balloons framed the front door for the launch and invited guests were treated to lunch – plus coffee.

Costa closed for refurbishment on October 7 and the work was completed in 16 days.

The company was founded in London in 1971 when brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa set up a small roastery in Fenchurch Street.

They blind-tested 112 variations of coffee before tasting one that became their signature blend, which they named ‘Mocha Italia’.

In 2017 Costa left its Lambeth roastery for one in Basildon producing 45,000 tons of coffee per year.
