Wallops Wood Cottages has won a Green Tourism UK 5* Gold Award.

The self-catering cottages are surrounded by the Meon Valley countryside, and owners Andrew and Katherine Graham pursue a green ethos without compromising the quality of their accommodation.

Green Tourism said: “Being green and sustainable is clearly the ethos of Wallops Wood and is part of their DNA.”

Andrew and Katherine said: “We feel that by addressing a number of environmental matters, the wider benefits can be considerable.”

Green initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of the cottages in the South Downs National Park include woodchips sourced from sustainably managed woodland which feed the biomass boiler to heat the cottages and the indoor swimming pool. Solar panels power all eight cottages, the indoor swimming pool complex, the laundry and the biomass boiler.
