Police have raised the spectre of knife crime with pupils at two Petersfield-area schools.

Members of the Butser Neighbourhood Policing Team held knife crime awareness events at schools in Froxfield and Blackmoor as part of Operation Spectre.

The response from pupils at both was positive with youngsters asking questions, engaging well and learning about the dangers and consequences of carrying knives.

Officers also conducted a “knife sweep” at the Borough Hill and Five Heads recreation grounds in Petersfield and Horndean, respectively, on Friday (May 23) as part of an initiative to reduce offences through enforcement, education and engagement.

No knives were found on either sweep. If anyone is worried about someone carrying a knife, it can be reported anonymously at https://orlo.uk/5CrC3
