RESIDENTS, walkers and those just out for a drive are being asked to report flytipping if they see it in progress or come across illegally dumped waste.

The appeal by East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) comes after a fly tipped sofa and cushions was cleared on Thursday, May 10, from Ramsdean Lane, which runs between Buriton and Ramsdean.

Petersfield resident Anne Saunders, who came across the waste, said it was a shame that some people seemed to think it was alright to litter the countryside.

An EHDC spokesman said: “Fly-tipping is a blight on our beautiful countryside and costs tens of thousands of pounds each year to clear.

“If you see fly-tipping in progress call police on 101, or report fly-tipped waste to us on 0300 300 0013.”
