PROTESTS against clearance work on Petersfield Heath have grown, with bird lovers criticising the removal of trees and shrubs.

A spokesman for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds said this is prime nest-building time for birds.

She said: "With the recent warm weather, birds will have started nesting in the last couple of weeks of March and will carry on through April."

The 91-acre beauty spot is managed by Petersfield Town Council, with help from the Friends of Petersfield Heath (FoPH) volunteers....
