AN UNEXPLAINED fire left a BMW car burnt out in a layby on the A3 near Petersfield.

Fire engines from Basingstoke and Fleet were on the scene in 10 minutes.

The black BMW 5 Series car was fully ablaze in a lay-by between the Petersfield and Liphook exits, when they arrived at about 9.10am, on Friday, October 9.

There is no indication as to what caused the fire and the driver escaped unhurt, said a spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.
