TWO Petersfield charities are appealing for volunteer drivers to help elderly or disabled people.
Petersfield Voluntary Care Group and Age Concern Petersfield, both of Winton House, are both in need of more drivers.
A voluntary care group spokesperson said: “We are overwhelmed with requests for help and at present we are particularly busy.
“Drivers can do as many or as few jobs as suits them, and just need a clean driving licence and be happy to use their own car.
“Expenses are paid and it’s very rewarding making a difference to someone who needs this transport.”
The group was launched about 45 years ago and recently presented one of its founder members, Joyce Perry MBE, with a certificate of recognition in appreciation of her work.
Age Concern Petersfield spokesman Sheridan Rocher said the charity was in ‘desperate need’ of drivers to take people to the lunch club, shopping, or on our outings.
She added: “Volunteers would be joining a fabulous team. The drivers also get so much out of supporting people in this way.
“You need to offer only a few hours a month – you will receive an induction and also attend MIDAS training.”
