CHARITIES in Petersfield have benefited through fundraising Freemasons in the town. Masons from the Lodge of Friendship and St Peters Lodge, based in the Masonic Hall in Windsor Road, raised the money solely through members’ efforts and generosity.

They presented the donations at a special evening in the Bordon Masonic Centre, which also saw Masons from Bordon and Alton give to charities in their areas. In total 26 charities shared donations of £17,500.

In Petersfield these were The Rosemary Foundation, Petersfield Society for Special Needs, Petersfield Counselling Service, Petersfield ShopMobility, and Petersfield Guides.

Langrish-based Hounds for Heroes also received a cheque from the Bordon Garrison Lodge. Masonic Provincial Grand Master Mike Wilks said: “Listening to the charity representatives explain the work they do was very humbling, and provided even more motivation for us to keep fundraising for such worthy causes.

“We have been supporting charities for 300 years, and I hope we’ll still be doing it for another 300.”

Among the local dignitaries at the event were East Hampshire District Council chairman, Councillor Lynn Evans.
