A CHURCHER’S College student will tickle the ivories in Petersfield today (Sunday) to raise funds for a charity close to her heart.

People who watch Madeleine Plummer perform a classical piano recital in St Peter’s Church will be encouraged to make a donation to the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.

The 17-year-old, from Haslemere, will perform the second and third movements from Beethoven’s ‘Pathetique’ Piano Sonata as well as Prelude and Fugue in G minor by Bach and Reverie by Debussy.

“I lost my grandma to MND a year ago and wanted to do something in her memory to help improve life for people with this condition,” said the A-level student.

“I decided to combine my love of music with raising funds for this cause and I hope that as many people as possible will come along.”

Madeleine, who will perform between 1.30pm and 2.30pm, hopes to study for a music degree at university and a post-graduate course in conducting.

She added: “All proceeds on the day will go to the MND Association, and donations will be gratefully received to help raise much-needed funds and awareness.”
