I always like to update my make-up bag at the start of the year.

Testers are great as you can try the product without committing to the full-sized product, which can be expensive.

These are my top three products of January 2020. I try a lot of products every month as I like to make my make-up kit as diverse as possible to suit every client’s skin type and preference. These three products have really stood out to me this month.

Clarins Instant Smooth is an incredible product if you struggle with your foundation sinking into any fine lines you may have.

It has xanthum gum in it, which then expands when it warms to your skin and fills any fine lines.

You need only a small amount of this product, which makes it last ages. If you use too much it will flood your skin and make your foundation go patchy throughout the day.

I love to use this product on clients especially if they have a few fine lines. It makes the foundation apply a lot smoother and looks nicer for longer as the foundation doesn’t sink in and crease.

Elemis Superfood Day Cream is a product I have been testing recently and I find it is so kind to my skin. If you have quite sensitive skin this really is gentle and moisturising.

I struggle with my skin as I usually wake up with dry skin but then it gets extremely oily throughout the day, so I have to find the balance with moisturising my skin well in the morning to make my foundation apply nicely but also preventing excess oil production later.

I have been using Elemis products recently and I’ve noticed a dramatic difference in my skin for the better.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is probably one of my favourite products. I used to own one a couple of years ago but when it ran out I got gifted some other mascaras so I was testing out a few at a time.

I got given the Better Than Sex mascara for Christmas and I am so excited to start using it again. It gives an amazing volume and lift to the lashes and I rarely get fall out on to the under-eye area from this product, which most mascaras end up doing for me.

However, the brush is quite thick so I don’t apply it to my bottom lashes; I use a drugstore one or one of my old mascaras with a thinner wand to do this to ensure I don’t accidentally get any on my foundation.

If you do get mascara on your skin accidentally, wait for it to dry completely and then go over it with a spoolie brush and just scrape it off. It won’t smudge or ruin your eye shadow or foundation this way.

None of these products or brands has been sponsored.

They have been chosen from my personal experiences, either through using them myself or because they are what I like to use on my clients.

Let me know if you try any of these or have used them in the past and what your experiences are with the products.
