THE CLASS of 2018 has done itself proud.

A summer of waiting came to an end this morning as hundreds of East Hampshire students collected their GCSE results.

But it’s been a vintage one for schools on both sides of Butser Hill with many reporting “very good” or “record breaking” results.

The Petersfield School (TPS) recorded its highest English and Maths pass rate in its 60-year history with 83 per cent achieving a Grade 4 or higher in both subjects - a three percentage point increase on last year’s record results.

More than 90 per cent achieved a ‘good’ pass while an impressive 93 per cent of students achieved a Grade 4 or better in English, compared to 91 per cent in 2017.

“I am absolutely delighted that all of the hard work and dedication shown by our students has been recognised with these fantastic results,” said Mark Marande, TPS Principal.

Excellent results were also achieved at Churcher’s College, Bohunt, Horndean Technology College, Perins and other nearby secondary schools.
