A FESTIVE and historic treat awaits visitors to the Weald and Downland Living Museum near Chichester for two days after Christmas.
On Boxing Day and Wednesday, December 27, the museum’s collection of rescued rural homes will be traditionally decorated to depict Christmas through the ages.
Period music, historical demonstrations, seasonal food and drink, plus log fires will bring history to life, so that visitors can discover how their rural ancestors celebrated Christmas from Tudor to Victorian times.
Each home is decorated with traditional greenery, with its table laid with a Christmas meal typical of the period.
Christmas is a great time to take friends and family to the museum’s idyllic location at Singleton – it is the perfect opportunity to walk off the Christmas pudding.
Visitors can enjoy a warm welcome in the medieval House from North Cray, with its log fire and traditional greenery decorations.
The museum is open for ‘Christmas at the museum’ from 10.30am-4pm on both days.
The museum will be closed on December 24 and 25 and from December 28-31.
A special wassailing event to celebrate the museum’s apple trees will be held on January 20, 2018.
